About

What is YSeeker Broadcasting?

YSeeker Broadcasting is an independent non-profit media organisation, with a network of online channels covering a broad range of subjects, like, lifestyle, movies, music, comics, poetry, literature, photography, mental health, technology, space exploration, to name a few.

In 2008, Byrappa launched YSeeker as a monthly general interest e-magazine, which initially came in PDFs files and soon shifted to a website-only version. In 2014, YSeeker was revamped as a weekly “website-only” e-magazine.

In 2016, we are relaunching as a network, with three main mission goals:

  1. Create and produce content to create awareness and change for the good.
  2. Content created and produced are targeted to the reader, it has to add value and contribute to the benefit of the reader.
  3. Identifying, nurturing, and mentoring talented individuals, especially from lower socio-economics backgrounds, and NEET’s in developing and third world countries.

These three mission goals are supported by our determination and drive to be completely self-sustainable and independent without, in any way, depending or being under the influence of any corporate, religious, racial, financial, political, or special interest groups.

Why?

Why not?

The ever present sensationalism, fear-mongering, and an unprecedented growth of paid media in many mainstream media outlets, along with information overload filled with lies, nonsense, innuendo, speculation, hyperbole, unproven & fake facts is slowly chipping away not just peace and tolerance, but also at the very fabric of humanity. We see a rise in fear, hate, division, intolerance, and an alarming increase in destruction of cultures, societies, families, and the lives of countless individuals.

What started as a “Digital Revolution” has quickly turned into a shitstorm of crappy content and a series of clusterfucks by individuals, social networks, special interest organisations, “new and digital” media, and unfortunately by traditional media too. Gone are the days of honest and ethical standards of the media industry and its people.

These trends kicked off the need to create an alternate independent and non-profit media organisation way back in 2007, and the 2007/08 global financial crisis that followed just proved the extent of corruption within the media industry. The scandals that came later, the thousands (If not millions) of frivolous and dangerous lawsuits filed around the globe to curb free speech, and the truth by various individuals and special interest groups made our resolve stronger.

The final nail in the coffin was in 2012/13, during and just aftermath of Byrappa doing his Masters in Applied Imagination for the Creative Industries, at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, University of the Arts London. Where the struggles of not just respected and talented professionals, as well as new and upcoming talent led to his MA project.

This followed a few stages of testing with various degrees of success and failures, experiments, and quantitative and qualitative studies, for four years. This long labour of love has gone through several iterations before launching in 2016.

Ok, so how do you plan to do this?

We aim to bring the focus back to what’s important: You. We strive to actively seek, research, question, and report the facts, truth, logic, and reality in the broader context of humanity and how it affects you. We strive to do this with uncompromising integrity, unshakeable dedication, while undeterred by the hordes of special interests and human stupidity.

Also, we are in association with We.Create:Me launching the YSeeker Fellowship, a platform to identify, nurture, and mentor talented individuals from all parts of the globe, especially from lower socio-economics backgrounds, and NEET’s in developing and third-world countries.

All of our content is available free of cost to everyone. And we intend to keep it that way.

We invite you in this journey so we can, together create well-informed global citizens, in building a better world and a better life for everyone.

Cool, how can I contribute or be involved in this journey?

We invite you to join us as a writer, an artist, a creator, a photographer, an editor, an aspiring writer, or a mentor to aspiring writers, artists, creators, photographers, etc.

We spend considerable time and resources to create and/or produce most of our content, and fund the entire (growing) network ourselves. We are a small team of people based in London, UK, and Bengaluru, India.  Presently we are funded by Byrappa and the team, through Roamer Media and Rovirek. (Yet, we do not answer to any stockholders, a corporate parent company, or a deep-pocketed donor. Instead we are accountable to you—our reader.) As we grow, to do all these and more, we will need more resources.

Your support will enable us to build the network to support more individuals, to upgrade or replace old and broken equipment’s, create events, as well as to hire more people to improve the network, thus enabling us to create more free high-quality content, and improve the platform to better support individuals.

We are exploring for more sources of funding, including monthly subscriptions, one-time donations, monthly donations through Patreon, promoting either YSeeker team or YSeeker Fellows created products that will be available at low prices to support the growth and development of the creators.

You may want to learn more about joining us or donating to YSeeker. We have tried to answer many of your questions in our FAQ’s page. If you still have any questions, please contact us.
